What Does Jewelry Casting Cost? How the Price Is Made Up

The most common question before a project: what does it cost? In jewelry casting the price is made up of several building blocks. Knowing them lets you roughly estimate the cost before you even ask.
The precious metal value
The largest and most variable item. It comes from the metal weight times the daily market price of the precious metal. The metal weight in turn is calculated from the volume of your model and the density of the alloy - for the same shape, a silver piece weighs far less than one in gold or platinum. Because silver and gold prices fluctuate daily, this share is never fixed.
The casting cost
For the casting itself there is an amount based on the size and weight of the part. Larger and more solid pieces need more material in the sprue system and more effort during divesting and cleaning.
3D printing and mold
If there is no finished wax model but a file, we first print the model in high resolution as wax. Several parts share one build plate - for a whole series, the printing share per piece drops noticeably.
Finishing and quantity
Depending on the piece, post-processing and finishing are added. And quantity counts: from five identical parts we apply a series discount on the casting costs.
Estimate it yourself
For a quick, non-binding orientation we built a casting cost calculator. You enter wax weight, dimensions and alloy and get an instant estimate based on the day's prices. For a detailed quote, simply send us your file or your model.
